    90% probable it is something that came loose in the exhaust system or muffler. Anything else in the engine or transmission that made that loud a sound would have made driving impossible. All you need to do is crawl under the car and grab the muffler and exhaust pipes ( when the car is COLD of course) and shake them to see whats loose. I suspect it is the the connection at the header to the pipe that has cracked or come loose.

    It may not be the first place people look. But the contents of the catalitic converter come loose inside and rattle like HE**. Since if it was easy you would have found it by now, this may be it. LMS Tek1010@carspace.com
