    Open the union, fill the master cylinder with fluid and see if it starts to drip at the end of the line. If there is no fluid coming out, the problem is between the union and the master cylinder. Check the left front wheel, if fluid bleeds there, the problem is not the master cylinder, rather in the lines or components from it to the wheel. An ABS control-valve would be common. If there is no pressure on the left front, the master cylinder has likely failed. Here's an article on hydraulic diagnosis of problems.
