I'll be honest, I am still thinking a glow plug problem.
See the TSB below. Let us know if that is of any help.

The image isn't very good. You should be able to get the local dealer to print out the entire TSB with a good diagram. If you can't, click on my profile

HARD START OR NO START - 7.3L

    ISSUE
Some 7.3L vehicles equipped with the glow plug control module (GPCM), may exhibit a hard start or no start condition. This may be due to the GPCM connector.
    ACTION
A new GPCM connector service kit, available for the 6.0L engine, can now be adapted to the 7.3L engine. Refer to the following Service Procedure.
    SERVICE PROCEDURE
    1. Inspect the GPCM connector for pin conditions such as; pin fit, pull out, bent, corrosion, etc.
    a. If a concern is found, replace the GPCM connector with the kit. The kit contains a replacement connector with pigtail to be spliced into the existing harness.DISREGARD THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED IN THE KIT (WHICH ONLY APPLY TO 6.0L) (see this image)
    b. If no concerns are present, proceed with normal diagnosis.

Have you eliminated the glow plug circuit as the problem?

If the glow plugs are not working properly, it can and has often caused a no start condition.

What is the battery voltage when cranking? Slow crank?
Are you running biodiesel? We've had a few trucks where the fuel sock in the tank had become clogged. They don't recommend cleaning them, but for the $500 price tag of the pump assembly, we've cleaned them with some success.

Problem found. The pump was making the oil pressure to open the injectors. It was an o-ring on #4 injector leaking. Pulled valve cover, oil sprayed every where. Leaked enough to prevent starting but not enough to show the fault. Passed all tests and ran great. Crazy. Thanks for the help, Diesel.

We all learned something from it.
    It's definitely an odd one.
