2000 Chevy Monte Carlo. Need help to reset ignition security system. I replaced the key cylinder.

my ignition key were pulling out and it often tripped the security system not allowing the car to start..So I intalled a used key cylinder but the car still won't start the security light on dash keeps flasing help?

In Maintenance & Repair > Electrical > Ignition
In Makes & Models > Chevrolet > Monte Carlo

Place in park, shut off the ignition and get out of car, lock it, then unlock and get in, insert key, turn key to the ACC position and turn the lights on and off three times then turn ignition off and on to start the engine. This should reset the security system. Good luck and let us know how it worked.
