I have a '96 S10 that wouldn't start when it was cold or wet outside, or would start and run rough until it was warmed up, because the grates that were supposed to protect the distributor from grit and bugs corroded over due to poor design, trapping excess moisture in the distributor. You could try changing the distributor rotor and cap to see if that helps out. Not too expensive of a repair if you do it yourself. Haynes Repair Manual will show you how to do it.
