    Could also be a bad clutch or leaking clutch hydraulic system.


    Try this and report back to us:

    shut the car off, pump the clutch pedal a few times, THEN try to put it in reverse without the car running. Let us know if it goes in or not.

    I was hopeful, but no go. Still no reverse even with the car off. Strategic parking still applies. :(

    Do you have an independent Japanese car specialist in your area who could inspect the shift linkage?
