2001 Hyundai Elantra starts hard in AM

I have a Elantra that starts very hard in the morning. It acts like it is starving for fuel...like the injector like if full of air. I hear the fuel put power up and come to pressure. Once it starts the car runs fine. I know the fuel filter is on the fuel pump and I would have to pull the pump to clean but wouldn't this cause the car to run lousy all the time?
Is there a valve on the fuel line that keeps the pressure up when the car is not running???? It seems like the fuel is slowly running back into the tank over night.

any ideas welcome

Thanks

Rick
