2003 Buick Rendezvous hard shifting. High rpms before shifting. Speedometer working intermittently.

2003 Buick Rendezvous recently started having issues.

Speedometer working randomly, high rpms before shifting gears (automatic transmission), feeling hesitant before shifting. Transmission fluid levels ok. Seems to occur more with colder weather/rainy weather.

I suspect you have a defective vehicle speed sensor. The VSS controls both the speedometer and the shift points on the transmission, so the symptoms you mention point strongly to a bad VSS. Fortunately, the repair is simple. The VSS just bolts to the side of the transmission case and connects with a snap on electrical connector to the wiring harness. You can replace it yourself quite easily or a mechanic can do it for you in about 15 minutes.

karjunkie i think you think this is a 4l60e,this truck has a 4t65e in it the speed sensor is located at the end of trans right hand side vehicle needs to be up in the air to get at this still is not that hard to change and i also think this is the problem unless the diff is failing which happens with this unit,it starts to detroy the sensor from pieces of the diff hitting it
