'88 Trooper stalls while driving. Replaced fuel pump & filter. Still stalls.

While driving the "check engine " light comes on. When I push in the clutch coasting to a stop all of the warning lights come on. Engine starts again after 2 mins, 5 mins, 30 mins, 2 hours. Runs for 2 to 13 miles and stalls again. Fuel pump and filter have been replaced with no better drivability.

My first thought would be that the catalytic converter is plugged or partially plugged.

Most exhaust shops can do tests to check the condition of the catalytic converter.

Also, you need to have the vehicle scanned and let us know what the trouble codes are.
