    Okay, I don't exactely remember your situation. I doubt the tachometer is affecting the performance so I think you should focus on driveability. What engine was in this-the four cylinder? If you know anyone who has this same engine, see if you can borrow the DIS ignition "box", I was lucky enough to have two of these Rangers in my garage and switched the ignition boxes and my truck started running better. The box itself is about $165 new-its not one of them parts that you can afford to just throw at the vehicle, but it could very well be the problem. If you can find someone to switch with, be sure you have the correct di-electric grease and a spark tester handy.
