If by "tight" you mean it is hard to turn the steering wheel, the car is either low on power steering fluid, has a malfunctioning power steering pump or has a damaged steering rack box. Low poer steering fluid is easily fixed by simply adding more fluid. The other two posibilities are more expensive to repair. In any case, you should NEVER buy any used car without getting a Carfax report for $25 and paying a qualified mechanic $100 for a complete inspection. That will be the best $125 you ever spent and may save you $$$ and a lot of frustration if the car turns out to be a rolling repair monster! Look for an owner that maintained meticulous repair and service records as these cars tend to be in the best shape even with many miles on the odometer. Good luck on whatever you decide!
