    The connector going to the resistor and the connector at the dash switch are both notorious for burning. When they get hot, they lose tension and no longer conduct properly. This lowers voltage, raises amperage and usually burns out components. Inspect both VERY carefully and if they are discolored, corroded are loose at all, replace.
