There's a retention clip you lift up, right where the "hook" is on the wiper arm, at the end of the arm itself (which is the middle of the blade). Then you slide the blade off the hook.
Thanks - you were close but there is a plastic cover over the original equipment wiper blades (covered with rubber substance, almost a winter type blade) that I had to lift in order to release them from the wiper blade arm. But it worked!
