Any information available on defective fuel pump relays for 1989 Lincoln Town Car?

I have twice replaced the fuel pump relay in my 1989 Town Car. For the third time is has begun failing with the same symptoms as the original. The problem is; the fuel pump continues to run after the car is shut off. I open the hood and tap the fuel pump relay to get the fuel pump to stop. This begins happening within hours of replacement. If this one follows the same pattern it will do this until suddenly the car will not start because the relay does not send any juice to the pump. The car has not suffered from any other electrical problems. Has anybody heard of recalls for the fuel pump relays for this year and model or know of any other permanent fix?
