Anyone know the best way to sell a car for parts? I have an 01 Ford Escape with 60k miles on it and the engine is shot.

The car is in great shape. Well maintained, new tires, brakes etc...

You could try Craigslist.com or call around or visit some local independent garages and body shops and see if they have a board you can put an ad on. Towing it to a local auction house is another alternative.

If you have the time, tools, and space, you could dismantle it piecemeal yourself and sell the parts on eBay.

Donating it to charity or selling it to a scrapyard or auto salvage yard is another option.

Or drop a crate engine in it (~$4,000 to $5,000) and drive or sell it.

Or trade it in at a dealer.

But the best way? Ordinarily I'd say eBaying the parts yourself would get you the most money, but since it's only the engine that's toast, I think I'd try to get a new or rebuilt engine in it and sell it as a running rig. Well, actually I'd try Craigslist first and see if I got any bites there before putting time or money into it.
