Are you able to bypass the Hyundai Santa Fe's navigation system? Does it need to be OK'ed when starting the car?

I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD with the LG (?) navigation system. Everytime I start the car, the navigation screen forces you to OK a generic warning. Is there a way to bypass or circumvent this step?

People have developed hacks to bypass this feature on other makes of cars but I haven't been able to find a hack for the Hyundai system. I'd suggest either asking around on the Edmunds' Hyundai topics, like this one:

Hyundai Santa Fe Maintenance & Repair

People there might help you or direct you to other sources for this info, and also what risks might be involved in doing this.

Yes you can modify the wiring to allow you to watch the DVD even when the engine is running. I completed this on my 08' SantaFe. Its not exactally an easy process to figure out and i wouldnt recommend for most people to start messing with wires. I am a former car audio installer and have an electronics degree and it took me about an hour and half to figure it out. I did take step by step pictures and could write up a "how to" document if requested.

Take note of my RPM's and dvd is still running.

It is a rather easy process if you have a "how to" and would prob take about 30min to complete and require a flat head screw driver, philips driver, wire strippper and wire crimp and a 5/8" nut driver. If you need details contact me at phil915@yahoo.com

The answer to Phil's driving with the DVD hack is: in the upper connector, cut the green wire with the orange stripe, and connect it to ground (the part that goes to the radio). I just soldered on a longer wire and attached it to one of the radio mounting screws. I found it because it hovers around 1-2V in ACC and ON, however when the engine is running it becomes 12V. Disclaimer: do so at your own risk, I claim no responsibility, and this probably voids your warranty. Unfortunately, it does not take away any of the nag screens.
