Is it true you that in California you can't buy new diesel cars? If I move to California with a diesel vehicle will I be allowed to register it?

It's my understanding that you can register your car in California if it has over 7,500 miles on it, but by all means check the regulations (they are always changing) with the State of California DMV. Here is their website: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/

Welcome to the horror that is CARB to my knowledge *live in SF Bay Area*, you can register a diesel car here but there are currently no CARS that meet the CARB emissions standards. BlueTec is coming out soon. you can always check with the DMV, but they should be okay with it

California simply has, and always does, have stricter more stringent standards when it comes to the cleanliness required of burning fuels.
