Best performance vehicles in the $30's?

I'm doing some checking around for vehicles based on performance stats. Can someone give me a list of the best cars in the $30's? Some come to mind, but I know I'm missing quite a few. Thanks for your help!

You just can't beat the Mitsubishi EVO in this price class for bang for the buck. It will just about kill anything else you put against it in the low $30Ks, and quite a few cars costing twice the price. And the bite is as good as the bark. Unlike some less expensive high-performance cars, the EVO will handle itself as fast as you dare to drive it, and on some roads in some conditions, will outperform cars that are theoretically even faster.

Thoughts on new BMW 1 Series, IS350, or STI? Again, I'm sure there are more.

Don't forget the following:

Acura TL Type S: Great engine, handling, AND techno-wizardry.

Infiniti G37: 330 hp! Nice luxury too.

Honda S2000: High-revving, fast, and it's a convertible. You can get the CR trim if you want it for the track.

Volvo C30: Easily optioned into the $30s. Don't know much about it, but it looks promising and is supposed to be fun to drive.

Or how about a used M3 or S4? I don't know if a used RS4 would be available in the $30s, but that would be really cool.

If you don't count the sports sedans, such as 3-series, C clas and A4 - I would list only three:
Subaru WRX STI
Mitsu Evo
VW R32

I guess you should first ask yourself if your pocket is deep enough for insurance and tickets. If you do, go with evo if big rear wings, jarring ride and turbo are your thing. The other end of the spectrum would be the G37 coupe, easier on the eye than the evo when you're with your corporate buddies.

The other answers are good sugestions, but the Lancer Evolution is too small and isn't very good in everyday use. The Infiniti G37 is a great car and if you want a car that has an upscale, premium look and feel. The Volvo C30 is a good car, but you shouldn't ever pay more than $27,000 for one. The Honda S2000 is one of the best cars in the world, it belongs on anybody's top 100 list of cars, but it's not a sedan. The Acura TL is another brilliant car, but the new costs just above $40,000 for the 3.7 V6 or one with any options. The car you need is the Pontiac G8 GXP. It has a new 6.2L V8 and 415hp. The G8 GT with 360hp has beat the BMW 550i in a few comparision tests and the GXP is faster and nicer than the G8 GT. Even the fuel economy isn't terrible, you would expect cars with such large engines to have terrible gas mileage and they aren't good in the city, but on the highway the G8 is good. The G8 has great handling and is very comfortable. You can get the GT for $30,000 or the GXP for $37,000. With a manual transmission the GXP wil do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds easily. I've driven a V6 Holden Commodore in Australia and it felt extremely solid and nimble. The old problem with the Commodore I drove was that its 240hp V6 needed more power and the 4 speed automatic was slow and boring to use. The G8 isn't available with either the 4 speed automatic or the 240hp version of the 3.6L V6. You can only have the great six speed transmissions and the 260hp version of the V6 here. So those problems are solved. The G8 is the best bargian for 2009. The G8 GT is a BMW 550i for half the money and the GXP is a more exciting M5 for half the money.
