I would avoid all three of those. Go get the latest Consumer Reports, it has lots of good used car info and recommendations for various prices. Older VWs can have lots of problem, and Saturn is no more, maintenance will be more trouble than other makes.

    What's your price range?

I totally agree with Texases; if you seek reliability, avoid German cars. There are some great alternatives out there. Some of my favorites are all years of Toyota Corolla sedan, 2003-2006 Toyota Matrix wagon, 2000-2003 Toyota Avalon sedan, 2000-2003 Toyota Camry sedan, 2001-2005 Honda Civic sedan (not the hatchback; because the hatchback is extremely likely to have been owned by a street racer), 2004 and later Ford Focus wagon or sedan (built by Mazda), 2004 and later Scion xB wagon, 2004 and later Scion xA wagon, 2002-2006 Suzuki Aerio sedan and wagon, 2001-2006 Suzuki XL-7 wagon, 2004 Mazda 3i sedan, 2004-2005 Mazda 6i sedan.

5500 is max, just needs to go up and down the freeway. Thanks for the heads up.
