    If you disconnect the AC hose, yes, you will have to recharge the system; also you will discharge refrigerant into the atmosphere, which is a bad idea, and you could injure yourself as well. So IF you have to disconnect the AC hose, you'd best let a professional do it, and save the refrigerant and recycle it for when you recharge later.
