Can I negotiate my Chrysler lease buyout?

I have a 07 Ram QC 4x4 that I have had for 25 out of a 39 month lease. The payoff is $24K as of today, I can buy a brand new one for $26K all over town WITH the same options. What I want to do is to offer Chrysler $16K cash now for the truck, so total Chrysler will have been paid is $29K.

Will they do this? Now that they are hurting? We all are.

Thanks.

I think the way to approach this is find out what the residual value is at the end of the lease (what could you buy it for when the lease terminates, in other words) and then negotiate the residual down. But you'll still have to fork over the 14 remaining lease payments. I doubt they are going to break the lease without charging you early termination fees. Remember they bought this car in order to rent it to you, and you're under a contract, so there's no reason for them to give it away. But they might go for a reasonable buy out once you've completed the lease arrangement.
