$700! What a huge rip-off!

Etching kits can be purchased at an auto parts store for $10 to $30. Lots of police stations did them for free until they decided etching really didn't prevent car theft. I bet if you called your insurance company, they would offer you no discount at all on your policy for etching.

To avoid negotiating stupid fees like these, focus on your Out The Door price (OTD). And be prepared to walk out.

And skip the paint and fabric protection too.

There are places that do the Etching, at a much lower cost than the dealer charges. I've had this experience, and went to the yellow pages, and found a shop that would do for $275.00. It used to be $500.00 at the dealer about 4 years ago. Now there really getting out of line. Shop around, and you could be pleasantly surprised. Ben

I understand there are cheaper ways to do the etching, but the Honda dealers here in Las Vegas say the etching price is part of the fees and can not be negociated.

Don't negotiate the line items like etching. Tell them what your out the door price needs to be. If they won't deal, go to Reno or Sacramento. Or go to GM or Toyota.

I'd write HondaUSA and complain that their franchised dealer is ripping people off. There are law firms out there suing dealers for this kind of ripoff (http://www.ohiolemonlaw.com/window-etchi...).

This stuff is worthless.

Oh, and please fill out a Dealer Rating and Review so others can beware of this dealer. (http://www.edmunds.com/dealerships/drr/j...)

700.00 ????

Sure, just tell them you aren't interested.

If they force it on you, just leave.
