Can you start more than one vehicle with a single battery simultaneously?

Can you start more than one vehicle with a single battery? For instance, let’s say I’ve got a 180 AH battery and four cars each needing 45 AH.

Can these four cars be started simultaneously by a single 180 AH battery?

If yes, is there a physical limit to how many cars can be started simultaneously with a single battery, provided that it has sufficient amperes to crank all the cars at once?

Or will that depend upon the cold cranking rating?

The important thing here is that you hook the starters up in series, not in parallel. In other words go from + on battery to lead in car 1. Lead in car 1 to lead in car 2. Lead in car 2 to lead in car 3 ad infinitum and then connect ground from the last car to the second to last car and continu in reverse until you finally hook the ground from car 2 to car 1 then car one to battery. If you have enough amps and thick enough wire there is truly no limit to the number of cars you could simultaneously start. If you hooked up the cars in parallel one wire to each car right from battery, the voltage would get split between the cars and you would have a failed starting experience.
The amperage drawn from the starters may require that you need two batteries hooled together in parallel(the leads of the battery wired together and the leads for the ground from the two batteries wired together and then you would connect the cars in series together.

I remember in high school auto shop somebody asked a question like this, i remember the teacher saying that what ever amp rating the starter motor operated on the intial requirment was 3 times the load, then 1 times the load once the starter was operating. there is a theory here and a formula (?)

Not sure I'd want to do this, for fear of blowing alternators.....

But cautiously yes, I think you could do this provided you started one engine at a time

But not 4 simultaneously. Initial load is the problem.

My question is why would you want to do this? Or is this just a curiousity question?
