Compact Luxury SUVs, do they exist? In this economy, what is still worth the money?

I've been looking a compact SUV's. Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4, Subaru, Nissan. All fall short. What would be considered a compact SUV in the luxury line? Are they still worth the big bucks in this economy?

Acura, Infinity and Lexus all make luxury SUVs in the mid size range and the Acura in particular is a great vehicle. The Acura RDX is stylish, reliable and offers good luxury features at a reasonable price compared to its competitors. I would test drive one and see what you think. You do not mention where the others fell short, but if it is only the luxury aspect, the Acura RDX may be what you are looking for. In this economy, you certainly should be able to get a good deal, especially if you are willing to consider a 2 year old model with low miles. Good luck on whatever you decide!

You may also want to look at the BMW X3 and the new Mercedes-Benz GLK. Both very nice.

The compact SUV segment is a different breed. A mix between the old and the new, but falling short with the world of CUV's (Crossover Utility Vehicles). Which are making up some of the shortcomings of the older style SUVS. With vehicle manufacturers concentrating harder on newer vehicles such as these CUV's you might have better luck finding something you will like with similar attributes in the CUV lineup rather than the SUV lineup. For a high end luxury feel without all the price, I highly suggest the 2009 Ford Edge or the 2009 Lincoln MKX. With the Employee Pricing Plus program, you have the best deals of the year and taking that car that was once a dream and priced into the practical category. You will find nothing else like that for the money, and with the Panoramic Vista Roof it really is a neat experience. Good Luck in your new vehicle search and please consider and Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Product.
