Well, obviously I expect people to quality and substantiate their answers as to which tires were their favorites. Of course someone might like long wear and forever lasting tread if they are just looking for bang for the buck. Then again, some of us might be looking for maximum traction in order to have maximum safety (highest cornering, accelerating, and braking ability).
For example, I did a bad job in recommending the Dunlop SportMaxx's previously. Let me provide the reasons for my positive review of these tires.
1. They were the highest traction tires I've ever driven on (and were Y speed rated). Their wet performance seemed to equal their dry performance; meaning rain or shine, you would be fine. :)
2. They were good looking tires and tread patterns.
Now the negatives:
They only lasted 20K miles, but that is quite acceptable for a Summer performance tire.
They needed "flat repair" from puncturing screws/nails twice! In my entire life, I've driven more miles on tires "other than Dunlop" but I haven't had a set of Dunlop's yet (3 sets total) that didn't need flat repair (or replacement in one case!) I've never had a flat or need for repair on any other brand tire EVER! Coincidence? hard to believe that! I would say Dunlops are puncture unfriendly, and they didn't warranty the tire in need of replacement because it looked like it had been stabbed/or slashed while I was driving on the road (they said road hazard), but I said where's the proof, there's no metal imbedded in the tire??? I would say I'm not buying Dunlops again because of that decision, but it was actually the tire shop's decision, and they said no way in hell Dunlop would cover it (and I didn't take the time and energy to elevate the argument straight to Dunlop to verify).
The Dunlops caused significant road noise, and it seemingly got worse as the tire aged.
