    Sounds like either the starter drive or the flywheel is defective. If these were used parts, or the starter was a rebuilt part; that is certainly the problem. The starter or flywheel also might not have been the correct model; or the starter mounting bolts might not have been fully tightened. It is also possible that the starter relay has gone out.
