Every car that requires premium will have that printed on the gas cap or the gas cap cover plate. This engine requires premium unleaded fuel 91 octane. You can run regular in the engine with no damage, but your gas mileage and power output will suffer. The knock sensor on modern cars like this will retard the timing to prevent any potential damage when you use regular 87 octane gasoline. Try a tank of regular and compare it to a tank of mid grade or premium gasoline. I am betting your loss of mileage offsets any savings on the cheaper gasoline.
