Does California sales tax apply to Doc and DMV fees too?

Does California apply the sales tax to the price of the new car ONLY, or does it apply to Doc Fees and DMV fees too?

I can't imagine they would tax a state agency fee, although I suppose they might tax a dealer's doc fee.

I assume it is applied to the Destination Charge. Correct?

Thanks in advance.

Sales tax applies to whatever the sale price of the car is.
If you paid stick, including the destination charge, than you would taxed on that amount.
If you got a discount, you would be charged based on whatever the discounted price is.

Actually, that's not entirely correct. California charges sales tax on the PRE-rebate/trade-in price of the car. So, you may actually pay sales tax on more than the price of the car.

But, that's not really germaine to the original question, which is:

----Does California charge sales tax on the Dealer Doc Fee and DMV Fee portion of the price?---

Thanks in advance for any answers to THAT question.
