Does paying cash lower the price of buying a car any?

I plan to buy a Nissan Cube at the end of the year. Does paying cash help to lower the price?

No, the dealer will get paid immediately whether you pay cash or finance the purchase.

In fact, the dealer may lose money on a cash sale since they get kickbacks for packaging financing, so it's probably best not to even bring it up. Negotiate your best price first and then talk about how best to pay for the Cube.

If you do decide to finance, it helps to get pre-approved at your bank or credit union or online first. If nothing else, that will encourage the dealer to try to meet or beat your financing deal.
