mike431	Engine idle issues.1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. Hello, I have a 1997 Grand Marquis and when I start it cold it idles rough for a few seconds then it will idle as it should. Once warmed up it does not do it any more on starting. I'm thinking sensor issue, any ideas?

This could be caused by spark plugs that need changing, or by bad spark plug wires, or by an idle air control valve that is defective or needs cleaning. A mass airflow sensor or throttle body that needs cleaning could also cause this.

A sensor problem would have a longer lasting effect; so this is more likely to be caused by weak ignition or fuel delivery issues.
