Extended warranty for a 2004 Honda Pilot?

Just bought this Honda yesterday w. 57,000 miles on it. What is the general opinion out there on extended warranties for Hondas?

I think you're okay on a 2004. If it were a 2003, I might say otherwise. There are a few issues with the car that crop up now and then, but I don't think they are serious enough to justify the considerable cost of an extended warranty. I'd suggest you just put that same money that you were going to spend on a warranty, into a savings account meant just for the car, and use it if you need it. It can double as your rainy day fund if you find you don't need it.

I've certified lots of Pilots for Honda dealers, like the one you bought. As warranties go it's a gamble. The dealer is betting on nothing going wrong, and your betting it does. I've only seen problems with Pilots, from rough off road service. An occasional transmission problem now and then, but rare, and really nothing else. It's a good solid SUV. I put a call in to a colleague of mine at a Honda service dept. to see if anything of late has come up. I will inform you if anything needs mentioning.
