There is no yes or no answer to this. It all depends on the cost and what coverage is provided. It also depends on who is issuing the policy. If you intend to keep the car for three more years and you can purchase an all inclusive 3 year policy for less than around $2,000 from the manufacturer or a reputable well rated company, then I would say it is worth it. The rationale is that any major engine or transmission problem is going to run you at least $1,500 and sometimes quite a bit more.
