For the salesperson, with the economy like it is, what is better to sell, Luxury American or Luxury German?

Probably depends on where you live. My take is that is would be better bo sell American luxury. The vast majority of the customers of US Lux cars are retired, or at least older than the avererage Euro Lux buyer. These people are more likely to have a stable supply of cash, versus a working upper class 30-50 year old who would more likely be impacted by the economy and not want to stretch as far to buy and expensive car. More important than the economy, though, will be the price of fuel if it heads north of 3.50~4.00 a gallon this summer, there will be a shift from SUV's as a status symbol to [I think] foreign luxury brands for many gen x and y'ers.

Luxury German. It all depends on what store you're going to work for, but in general, I would suggest the Germans. Call me crazy, but I try to steer away from anything American automotive ventures.
