Probably depends on where you live. My take is that is would be better bo sell American luxury. The vast majority of the customers of US Lux cars are retired, or at least older than the avererage Euro Lux buyer. These people are more likely to have a stable supply of cash, versus a working upper class 30-50 year old who would more likely be impacted by the economy and not want to stretch as far to buy and expensive car.

More important than the economy, though, will be the price of fuel if it heads north of 3.50~4.00 a gallon this summer, there will be a shift from SUV's as a status symbol to [I think] foreign luxury brands for many gen x and y'ers.

Luxury German. It all depends on what store you're going to work for, but in general, I would suggest the Germans.

Call me crazy, but I try to steer away from anything American automotive ventures.

All the cars I have ever purchased have been non American outside of my GMC Envoy but like someone else mentioned SUV are not going to be popular with the summer approaching causing increasing gas prices. Actually I'm shopping right now for a Lexus so my vote goes to Luxury German.

lol i dont get it lexus is japanezewhy would you vote german? But yea definetly from what my freinds at our other store tell us and the numbers we see mini coopers are impossible to find you have to order them and bmw's have still been selling rediculesly so im voting german because if caddilac got him the same way as chevy then they are in some stuff however they never stopped building any of there expansions so maybe we are all in the dark

Luxury german might sound nicer, but might be harder to get into and to get new clients.

Most people shopping for high end BMWs or MBs have their own sales reps and don't wander into dealership clueless as to what they want. Therefore starting in a high end dealership where there might not be too many new walk ins might prove difficult unless you have your client base you can fall back on.

As for American cars, well, there aren't as many luxury choices (Lincoln, Cadillac) as there are with German (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche), but for a beginner it might be easier to start off and get hired with American brands.

Plus Cadillac and Lincoln are usually paired up with lower end brands, so in most cases if traffic is slower with these brands, you can always sell the lower end counterparts like Ford, Mercury, or Chevy and still make a decent month.
