GM's employee discount, is that a factory deal, thus the dealer has more to give, or that the final price?

There are factory discounts of course that don't affect the dealer, i was wondering if the employee price is a factory discount, thus I can still work the dealer like I normally would to get to invoice or below.

Or is that it, is this really a no haggle price and I shouldn't expect much more.

Thanks

GM employee price is approcimately invoice - 10%. Being that it's already below invoice makes it a moot point to try and negotiate for invoice.

However, do check for incentives other than pricing like low percentage rates or rebates as they will still apply.

The GM employee price is the no-haggle price. You are still entitled to cash back or APR incentives. The extended warranty for coverage beyond basic coverage is negotiable.

the GM employee price promotion requires dealers to sell the car for the employee price printed on the invoice. selling the car for more (or less) than the printed price will cost the dealership all the incentives from GM collected durring the promotion period.

the employee price means the dealership is selling their units at a true loss, however, GM pays them back a commission to put them back (slightly) into the black.

participation in the GM pricing event is optional, but it's 100% participation. meaning if they sell 1 car at EP they must sell them all at EP for the promotional period.

so, selling you a car at $0.01 under EP could cost them $100,000-200,000 or even more. if your local dealer is participating don't expect any discounts at all.

but, don't worry, if you like to haggle there is still interest rate and trade allowance you can argue with them about!
