    Ok, i c, this is a vortec engine. Does the fuel pressure hold at or near 60psi if you dont try to turn it over? Slow gradual dropping after pump turns off is ok. Pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator and plug the line. Retest. Any change? Those 'spider' fuel injection assemblies are real problematic too. hard to test since they're buried in the intake.

    The 3-5 sec. after your turn to ON is the fuel pump priming to start, this is normal for chevy. This should do this the first few times your turn on, if not, there are other issues. Try observing the fuel injectors in the throttle body while starting. I recently replaced one for being stuck open, charred the wire harness plug, dumping fuel, and can cause a bad O2 reading.

    Yes the fuel pump runs for about 3-5 seconds when the key is turned to the ON possition, but goes to 3-5 psi when the starter is engaged(trying to start the engine)it acts like it is not getting enough fuel pressure to make the fuel injectors work. That is why if you turn the key off and then on again and again the pump supplys fuel to the enjectors and the residual fuel in the cylinder from the injector (works like an accelarator pump on a carburator )gets heavy enough for it to start, what puzzles me is it starts like nothing is wrong after it gets warmed up.
