Have a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Will not shift into passing gear and the odometer stopped all at the same time. HELP!

2001 PT Cruiser will not shift into passing gear.

You have a bad vehicle speed sensor. It bolts to the transmission and controls shift points as well as some of the guages such as the odometer. It is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace.

you most likely have a faulty output speed sensor,or input speed sensor,these send and receive information from the pcm to control trans shifting and speedodometer action.you probaly have a check engine ligth on with a code of p0500,you can buy these parts over the counter at any parts store make sure to get the codes cleared,you can do this by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes
both of these components are located front side near the bottom of transmission
