Headlights not working properly - 1998 Cadillac

My 98 caddy headlights comes on by themselves in the day time when I put the in gear and dash says headlights suggested and at night my headlights dont come on at all, does any one no why.

As far as the headlights coming on in the daytime, most if not all GM products have had DRL's (daytime running lights) since the late nineties. As far as the headlights not coming on at night, I can only guess, but here are my guesses. First guess is you may have automatic headlights and the sensor may have failed. Second guess is there may be an override for the automatic headlights on the headlight switch which you may have inadvertently activated. Third, if your headlights don't come on when you turn on the switch, you probably have a failed switch. Last guess is to suggest you try both your high and low beams, as you have burned out bulbs. There can be other issues, but start with these.
