How Can I replace driver, inside door release. Handle brokden. won't open from inside? on 2000 Corolla?

I need to see a diagram of how to replace driver's side, inside door handle release on a Toyota, 2000 Corolla The handle broke partly off and door won't open from inside. Can I do it myself and what parts do I get? Do I need any special tools? Or is this somthing I need to take to a dealer? (Heaven forbid.) Thank you.

You might be able to do this, sure. I think all you have to do is remove the screw that is behind the broken interior door handle (tool: philips screwdriver) and then push the broken handle toward the front of the car and then try to pull it out. You will then see that this broken handle is attached to a long rod with a clip. Take a pair of pliers (tool: needle nose pliers) and remove the clip, throw away the old handle, insert the new handle to the rod, clip it, and screw the new handle back in.

you're done! 15 minutes, two tools necessary....and of course a new handle from the dealer.
