Generally speaking a front wheel drive car should perform decently in the snow versus a rear drive vehicle. However, snow tires will vastly improve the handling and margin of safety. I suggest you buy snow tires mounted on steel rims so that you can easily change to snow tires and back during the year. You can buy a set for about $500 at the tire rack website and have them delivered to your door or to your local installer. I did this for 20 years when I lived up north and they saved my butt many times in snow and icy roads while I saw others stuck in a snow bank or worse! Best 500 bucks I ever spent!
