How do I remove the air filter cover from a 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara?
I am trying to replace an air filter on my 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I have removed the clips, but am having troubles lifting the top cover off of the compartment that holds the filter. There is a hose that is attached to the top cover and it won't pull up. How do I remove the lid of the compartment? Thanks-

If all the clips have been released, it is probably just tightly attached to the air box. Give it a good yank up. Push lightly on the sides of the box near where the top joins the box. This may help release it.

I have been able to slightly lift the compartment lid. It seems a hose of some sort is attached to the lid and I am leary of yanking on the lid as the hose doesn't seem very flexible- Am I just being too gentle with the lid? Thanks

The hose you refer to is the intake plenum to the intake manifold on the engine. It has a "coiled" section that allows you to lift the top enough to remove the air filter. Yoy can safely raise the top the 4-6 inches you need to remove the old filter and insert the new one.
