mikecl1	How do I remove the battery in a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia? I tried turning the seat all the way forward and at 90 degrees but there isn't enough room to get the battery out. It would seem that you need to move the entire seat forward, including the base plate assembly, and I don't see how to do that. You can't even get to the 2 forward screws on the battery cover (which fortunately aren't in there). I can't get the positive cable lead out of the way either even if I could lift the battery straight up (battery doesn't have a handle).

I think the trick is to turn the seat around backwards, or at least swivel it, then slide it forward, and then you'll have the room you need.
