Clear away any phyisical obsructions, air cleaner, anything that's blocking your clearance to the battery. ALWAYS remove the NEGITIVE cable first. Clean all Batt. cables & posts with baking soda and vinegar and rinse off with some water. Use a battery wire tool to ream out the inside of the cables and the outside of the posts. Don't smoke, and always wear EYE protection. The battery cleaner tool is very cheap. It wouldn't hurt to have a shop rag for spillage. Also look at the battery hold down case, and make sure it's clean of any acid residue.
