How do you change a headlight bulb on the 2005 Passat Sadan?

Low Beam Headlamp -M29-/ -M31-, replacing



Removing



CAUTION:



  • Switch off all electrical consumers.
  • Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
  • Remove small cover cap from rear of headlight housing.
  • Turn socket (with connector) -1- counterclockwise -arrow- and pull out of headlight housing.
  • Pull bulb -1- out of socket -2- in direction of -arrow-
  • Replace bulb.
Installing



CAUTION: Do not touch glass portion of bulb with bare hands.
Even the smallest amount of moisture and/or contaminants from fingers
that evaporates on the bulb during operation can cause the glass to
cloud over.





  • Reinstall socket (with connector) into headlight housing. Lock socket in place by turning clockwise.
  • Reinstall cover cap and check headlight (bulb) function.

High Beam Headlamp -M30- / -M32-, replacing



Removing



CAUTION:



  • Switch off all electrical consumers.
  • Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
  • Remove large cover cap from rear of headlight housing.
  • Turn socket (with connector) -1- counterclockwise -arrow- and pull out of headlight
  • Pull bulb -1- out of socket -2- in direction of -arrow-
  • Replace bulb.
