    In 1999, Ford integrated the chime into the instrument panel of most vehicles. It cannot be unplugged.
    There is no way to turn it off.
    It is controlled by the Body Control Module.

    I have not seen an Edge, so it may be different from the other Ford vehicles, but I doubt it.

    It's in the manual. It requires you to use your key to turn on the ignition and a procedure of buckling and unbuckling your seat belt a certain number of times within a time period. About the only way you can do it too is by not seating in the seat, either. It's a little tricky, but you can do it.
