    Without knowing all the details of what was damaged, there is no way to make an estimate. If you have photographs or a list of work done you might talk to a body shop.

    It has been repaired already by a friend who had not charged anything just needed to know a price to give to our lawyer

    Nobody here can answer your question without seeing the car and even then I don't know if anyone here is capable of writing an estimate.

    As someone else suggested, there is little doubt that the car is a total since it wouldn't take much damage at all to exceed the value of a 18 year old car.
