I have an 02 Land Rover Freelander with 57,000 miles. When should the timing belt be changed?

we have a 02 land rover freelander with 57,000 miles on it and we are being told timing belt may need changed is this normal

In Maintenance & Repair > Scheduled Maintenance
In Makes & Models > Land Rover > Freelander

Land Rover recommends timing belt replacement at 72,000 miles.
You should double check that in your owner's manual.
There should be a maintenance schedule in it.

If the timing belt needs replacement, it really wouldn't be that uncommon, as some shops tend to go a bit on the cautious side, as losing the timing belt(s) could be very expensive.
