I have a 2001 Lincoln Navigator and when I switch to 4WD H or L, no indicator lights come on. Should it?

When I switch from A4WD to 4WDH or 4WDL there is no indicator light to tell me that it is in 4WD, should there be?

The manual says that the low range indicator on the instrument panel should light up when four-wheel drive low is engaged. Ditto the 4x4 light. These indicator lights are to the right of the battery gauge.
