    3.5 V6 = 211 HP
    3.9 V6 = 242 HP
    5.3 V8 + 303 HP

Quite honestly, for all the money and trouble, you should just sell your car and buy a 2006 Monty SS. The price difference is about $6,000 on these two used cars, and it will cost you more to convert from one engine to the other.

Also the SS has all the brakes, tires and suspension upgrades for the additonal 100HP. If you put all that extra HP into your car, you will definitely have to upgrade other parts of the car.

I think you need to think this idea through more carefully and weigh all the options.

My usual advice is "if you want a faster car, go buy a faster car". It works out a lot better in the end.

    Shiftright is absolutely right.

Your LT wasn't built to hold a V8 or support 300+ horsepower. If you want a faster one, change cars. I know it sounds like a cool idea to do an engine swap, but you'll kill your resale value, and it's not even remotely as easy as it sounds.

I really think that mr shiftright gave you a great answer to your problem. I have a question though. I know this might be a stupid question to you but i have always gone to the most simple problem to try and fix it from the easy point then to the hardest. So what i am going to ask you is have you looked into a chip that you can install? The chip might just give you the zip you might be looking for. I hope you find what you need to.

It's not a lie that mr_shiftright gave the best answer he could, in my opinion. In the future, I'll ask him my questions. I think he's a real Expert!

P.S. This question is one of those I wanted to ask soon. Now, I've find the answer without doing it...

The days of swapping V8 engines for six cylinders is long gone. In addtion to making the physical swap, you would also need to swap transmissions, likely axles, exhaust/emmission controls, and likely most of the wiring harness and computer connections/sensors, fuel tanks, etc. Modern powertrains are precisely calibrated systems, and you cannot change one element without impacting all the other elements.

Your car would never pass an emissions check again, which would make it impossible to sell in most states.

Not only a bad idea, but an impossibility for the most part.
