I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. How do I start the engine if it's flooded?

Engine turns over okay when jump started but won't kick over. Battery was flat.

If it's flooded, you put the gas pedal to the floor and HOLD IT THERE until the car starts---then of course let up on it so that the engine doesn't race like crazy. If you are cranking and the engine sounds like it's sputtering but still hasn't started, don't stop....keep the key turned until it starts.

Don't do this for more than 15 seconds maximum.
