I have a 97 Chrysler Sebring v6 automatic that will not shift into reverse. I replaced the transmission control solenoid. Help.
I just got the car. When you put in reverse the car would only roll if on flat or downhill surface. I replaced the transmission control solenoid I was told this would take care of it. Now the shop said it might be s sensor. The car drives & shifts great. Just no reverse. It's a 97, v6 2.4 auto. Since I replaced the part it won't even roll now. It acts like it's in park. Help, anyone.

This model has a lot of problems with the wiring harness going to the transmission and the harness frequently requires replacement. The best way to attack the problem is to get an OBDII scan and see what specific codes come up. You should go to your mechanic or local auto parts store and have them hook up an OBDII scanner to the car and check for any fault codes. Many auto parts stores will do this for free. This will tell you if any specific parts, sensors or modules are malfunctioning and need repair or replacement. It will save you hundreds of $$$ if you know what is wrong before replacing a lot of expensive parts. If you need help with the codes and what they mean, just come back here and we will try our best to help. Good luck and let us know if you have any follow up questions!
